World Falconry

Falconry is an ancient hunting partnership between humans and wild raptors. Although the first people known to have trained hawks were the nomadic societies of Central Asia, around 4000 BC, it is likely that falconry predates the development of agriculture, possibly as far back as Paleolithic times. From those early days falconry slowly spread across the globe, first into Eastern Asia, then into Arabia, gradually moving West into Europe, Africa then finally the Americas. Over the centuries societies practicing the sport quickly developed their own falconry techniques, equipment and philosophies to match their evolving cultures. Over time the sport of falconry has become as unique and diverse as the countries practicing it.
